Cirencester's 20mph speed limit zone set to widen

Plans to extend the existing 20mph speed limit to many more roads in Cirencester have been put forward.

Gloucestershire county Council said the scheme would help improve the quality of life for residents and improve road safety.

It said Watermoor Road would have extra traffic-calming measures installed.

"Emergency services, the road haulage association and local councillors have been consulted and have given their support," a spokesman said.

"Speed cushions in three places and build-outs to narrow the carriageway in Watermoor Road," he said.

"This combined with the current parking arrangements will help reduce speed and improve safety.

"Anyone who wants to comment on the proposals should contact Gloucestershire Highways department by 17 March," the council spokesman added.
