Gloucester children's centre opens to support families
A new centre offering childcare and training to hundreds of families in Gloucester has officially opened.
The £545,000 Beacon Children's Centre in Kingsway is the 39th and final Sure Start centre for Gloucestershire.
Manager Stephanie May said the centre was already providing "much-needed services" for families in the area and will be expanding what is offered.
Under-fives and parents or carers can visit the centre to access courses, health clinics and play sessions.
Vic Rice, Conservative county councillor for Quedgeley, said: "Providing such facilities as the village grows will help support residents and encourage community spirit as well as relieving pressure on surrounding facilities."
