Woman, 96, knocked down by car in Stroud

A 96-year-old woman is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after being knocked down in a pedestrianised area in the centre of Stroud.

Officers were called to King Street on Monday morning after reports that a car had reversed into an elderly woman.

The pensioner was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment to her injuries.

A 22-year-old local man has been served with a notice of intended prosecution for dangerous driving.
