Cirencester picnic area shut for bridge work

A picnic area in Cirencester is to be closed for six months while a new footbridge is installed over a nearby dual carriageway.

The new bridge will link a Tesco Extra supermarket with the new Kingshill housing development.

Councillor Carole Topple said the work would start in September and the picnic area would be closed from then.

"We regret the inconvenience that closing the picnic site will cause during this period," she added.

"I'm sure that most residents will agree that losing this amenity for a short while is a small price to pay for the convenience of having a new bridge, allowing pedestrians and cyclists a safe crossing over this busy road."
