A 73-year-old man has died after falling from an indoor wall at a climbing centre in Gloucester.

Dave Rothman from Tewkesbury died in hospital on Wednesday after falling from about 9m (30 ft) at the Warehouse centre at about 20:00 GMT on Monday.

It is understood he was climbing independently when he fell.

Director of the Warehouse, Rob Stevens, said Mr Rothman was a regular user of the centre in the city's Parliament Street.

He said Mr Rothman had climbed "at least once a week" at the centre since it opened in 1994.

A Gloucester City Council spokesman said a health and safety investigation had been launched.
