Gloucester nightclub 'fire' to test fire brigade response
A major exercise designed to test the fire brigades' response to a fire in a nightclub is to take place in Gloucester.
Some 15 fire engines and 100 firefighters from around the county will be involved in the exercise which takes place on Tuesday.
To make the exercise more realistic the Registry nightclub will be full of "volunteer clubbers".
Also involved will be police, paramedics and emergency planners.
Gloucestershire's Chief Fire Officer Jon Hall said: "This is a valuable opportunity for us to practice firefighting on a large scale under testing conditions.
"This scale of exercise is also a very public demonstration to the community we serve that we are a highly-professional organisation who are here to protect them whenever they need us," he added.
