Cirencester homes evacuated after gas leak

Eight people have been allowed to return to their homes after a gas leak in Gloucestershire.

Police were called to Cranham Lanes in Cirencester at 07:45 GMT after reports of a strong smell of gas at a nearby gas pumping station.

Seven homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue and the gas board attended the scene until about 10:30 GMT, when the gas leak was closed off by engineers.
