Head-on crash on B4226 near Coleford

A 25-year-old motorist remains in a critical condition after his car collided head-on with a lorry on a road in the Forest of Dean.

Emergency services were called to the B4226, near Coleford, following reports of the accident on Wednesday morning.

An ambulance service spokesman said the Renault Clio driver sustained head, pelvis and leg injuries.

The two male occupants of the LDV van were treated for minor injuries at the scene before being taken to hospital.

"The car driver has sustained very serious multiple trauma injuries and is in a critical condition," an ambulance service spokesman said.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman appealed for witnesses to the accident which happened at about 10:15 BST.

The road was closed for four hours while the accident was investigated.
