A man who may have seen something which could help in the investigation into a rape in Gloucester is being sought by police.

Detectives are investigating three sex attacks in the county in the past six months.

Officers have released CCTV of the possible witness going into the Tesco Express store in Abbeymead on 2 May.

A 20-year-old woman was raped in grassland near the Clock Tower in the area that evening.

The three attacks - in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Innsworth - saw women targeted in public places such as parks over a six-month period.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said that while they were not being formally linked, "all three cases are being examined together due to the similarities between the crimes".

In the first attack, in the Hester's Way area of Cheltenham in November 2011, an 18-year-old girl was grabbed by a man in the Welch Road playing field before being sexually assaulted.

In January a 16-year-old girl was walking near the A40 in Innsworth when she was approached by a man who indecently assaulted her and stole her phone.

In May, the 20-year-old woman was raped in the Abbeymead area of Gloucester.

Two men from the Gloucester area have been arrested and released on police bail.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to contact the force or Crimestoppers anonymously.
