Overnight closures for A419 near M5 junction

Part of the A419, close to junction 13 of the M5 in Gloucestershire, is being closed for resurfacing.

The work will take place overnight on Monday and Tuesday between 20:00 and 06:00 BST.

During this time a 20-mile signposted diversion via Stroud and Hardwicke will be in operation and drivers are being advised to use other routes.

There will be no direct access west from the M5 on junction 13 to the A38 while the work is in progress.

A Gloucestershire Highways spokesman said as the road was "extremely busy" work would take place overnight to minimise disruption.

"Whilst we know that this closure will inconvenience people, in the long term it will benefit the many motorists who use this vital commuter link, which is worn out and needs replacing.

"I hope motorists agree the short term disruption is well worth the longer term benefits of having a greatly improved road," he added.
