Gloucestershire PCC approves £12.4m custody suite

Gloucester's Police and Crime Commissioner has approved plans for a £12.4m centralised custody suite to be built at Waterwells in Quedgeley.

The facility would be capable of housing up to 50 detainees and replace outdated cells in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Stroud.

Commissioner Martin Surl said the centre is "essential" as he was "shocked" by the state of the current cells at Gloucester Police station.

It is planned to open by November 2014.
