Rugby World Cup spending in Gloucester to be signed off

Spending of £350,000 on the 2015 Rugby World Cup in Gloucester is set to be signed off by the city council.

The money is likely to be used to fund facilities in the city including a fan zone and big screen at the docks, as well as a festival and music events.

The idea is recommended for approval by Gloucester City Council's cabinet later.

Four world cup matches will be played at Gloucester's Kingsholm stadium in September and October 2015.

The council said it will try to attract sponsorship in order to "spread the financial commitment".

The decision is due to be ratified by the full council on 18 July.
