An application to site a 122m (400ft) high wind turbine at Sharpness has been approved.

Stroud District Council voted by seven to two in favour of the plans put forward by the Partnership for Renewables Limited (PFR).

The council had received about 50 letters from the public objecting to the plans and about 100 in support.

Once built PFR said the turbine would generate 1.5 megawatts of electricity - enough to power about 700 homes.
