A three-mile (4.8km) stretch of the A40 in Gloucestershire will be shut overnight for the next two weeks.

The section between junction 11 of the M5 and the Elmbridge Court roundabout will be closed between 20:00 and 06:00 GMT on weekdays.

The Highways Agency said the road would only be closed in one direction at any one time to minimise disruption.

A signed diversion route will be in place for the road resurfacing work, which is due to be complete by 6 March.

Eastbound traffic on the A40 will be diverted along the B4063 at the Arle Court Roundabout, before rejoining the A40 at Elmbridge Court Roundabout.

Westbound traffic travelling towards Cheltenham from Gloucester should use the same route in reverse, the Highways Agency said.
