Fresh safety concerns have been raised about a mental health hospital in Gloucester where an NHS worker was stabbed to death last year.

Recent incidents at Wotton Lawn Hospital have seen a patient treated for multiple stab wounds, while another died after being found unconscious.

Gloucestershire Police is carrying out investigations into both incidents.

In July, 53-year-old staff member Sharon Wall died after being attacked by patient Ryan Matthews.

Matthews was convicted of her murder and sentenced to a whole life order in January.

On Tuesday, a 51-year-old male patient in the psychiatric intensive care unit suffered stab wounds to his hand.

Police said a 28-year-old male inpatient has been charged with GBH with intent, and is due to appear in court next month.

In a separate incident, a 21-year-old male patient was found unconscious on the same ward and died shortly afterwards.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious and said the coroner has been informed.

A Health and Safety Executive investigation into Ms Wall's death is still ongoing.
