Man held as police seize machete in Southampton street

A man has been arrested and a machete and wooden bat seized by police after a disturbance in a Southampton street.

Officers were called to Coxford Drove in Shirley on Wednesday afternoon after about 15 people gathered outside a property.

Hampshire Police said threats were being made towards an individual but no injuries were reported.

A 23-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon.

The machete and wooden bat were recovered by officers from an address in Coxford Drove.
