Injured boy's phobia changes Isle of Wight rescue bid

  • Published

Coastguards were forced to change their rescue plan for a boy who suffered head injuries on a boat because of his fear of helicopters.

Solent Coastguard said it received a call from the Island Sailing Club boat, which was off the coast of the Isle of Wight, on Saturday.

A paramedic was winched down to check the 11-year-old's condition.

Hamble Independent Lifeboat then escorted the vessel to Trinity Pontoon in Cowes and he was taken to hospital.
