A 17-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after double-decker school bus and two cars collided on a Hampshire road.

The accident happened close to the Brockenhurst Bridge area of the A337 Lyndhurst Road at about 1640 BST.

The teenager, who was driving a VW Polo, was cut free by firefighters and taken to Southampton General Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The bus driver was taken to hospital but no-one else on board was injured.

The 54-year-old is said to have suffered head and leg injuries, although his condition is not life threatening.

The students were taken by a second bus to Brockenhurst College where they were collected by their parents.

The 41-year-old male driver of the other car, a Daewoo Matiz, was uninjured.

Road closures have been put in place between Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst Bridge.
