No action after 'grenade' found on Isle of Wight


A 52-year-old man arrested after a suspicious grenade-like object was found on the Isle of Wight has been released without charge.

Residents were evacuated from their homes and armed police closed Arctic Road in Cowes on Tuesday morning, while a Navy bomb disposal unit investigated.

Those living nearby were allowed back home after police confirmed the object was not a danger to the public.

The man had been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm.
