Three police cars were damaged when officers foiled an attempted lorry theft in Hampshire.

Police were called to Robinsons International Removals in Basingstoke, on Monday night, after reports someone was trying to steal a lorry.

When officers arrived, the offenders drove off in a Peugeot 405 and hit a marked car. The crash caused two other marked vehicles to collide.

Nothing was stolen and none of the police officers involved was injured.

Pc Wendy Austin, from Basingstoke CID, said: "This incident happened very quickly and has resulted in damage to three police cars and the lorry.

"We would like to hear from anyone who saw the Peugeot 405 in the area last night, or has any information about who was responsible for this attempted theft."
