Hampshire Police is offering to security-mark bicycles free of charge at three events in the county.

Residents who received bicycles for Christmas are being urged to bring them along to the sessions in Andover, Nursling and Romsey.

Officers said security marking, which only takes a few minutes, makes bicycles less attractive to thieves because they are harder to sell on.

It also makes it easier for police to return stolen property to owners.

The first of the events will be held at the Phoenix Centre in Andover on Wednesday 29 December between 1300 and 1500 GMT.

The second will be at Nursling Village Hall, Joe Bigwood Close, on Thursday 30 December 1000 and 1200 GMT.

The last session will take place at Romsey Sports Centre, next to Romsey Rapids, on Thursday 30 December 30 between 1300 and 1500 GMT.
