Woman rescued from bungalow fire in Portswood

An elderly woman has been rescued after a fire broke out in her home in Southampton.

More than 20 firefighters were sent to tackle the fire at the bungalow in Osborne Road South in the Portswood area of the city.

It broke out shortly before 0600 GMT and the bungalow has been seriously damaged by fire.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment, a spokesman for the fire service said.
