Inquiry after suspicious house fire in Basingstoke

An investigation is under way following a suspicious fire at a house in Hampshire.

Crews were called to a fire at a house in Culver Road, Basingstoke, on Thursday night.

Police said the fire caused serious damage to the house and "fortunately" no-one was inside at the time.

"Fires like this are extremely dangerous and could result in someone being seriously injured or even killed," Det Con Andrew Wright said.

He said officers were following up several lines of inquiry and wanted to hear from anyone who had seen anything suspicious.
