Hampshire homes without water as pipe bursts

Published

About 100 homes in Hampshire were without water on Christmas Eve after a pipe burst.

An 18in (46cm) pipe burst in Yokesford Hill, north of Romsey.

Southampton's council-run Romanse traffic service also warned leaking water was turning to ice, causing dangerous conditions.

A Southern Water spokesperson said repairs were under way and the company hoped to have water restored to all customers by 2100 GMT.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this burst is causing. We're working as fast as we can to repair the main and restoring water supplies is a priority," they added.

Bottles of water are being offered to people affected.
