Ringwood man arrested over double stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two men were knifed in a Hampshire town.

Police were called to the junction of Clough's Road and Parsonage Barn Lane, Ringwood, at about 1415 GMT on New Year's Day.

They found two men aged 49 and 20 who had serious knife injuries and were taken to hospital.

A 35-year-old man from the Ringwood area was later arrested and taken into custody for questioning.

Acting Det Insp Martin Myers, of Lyndhurst CID, said officers were treating the stabbings as "an isolated situation".

He said: "The exact circumstances leading up to these assaults remain unclear.

"One line of enquiry is to trace witnesses who we know left the Clough's Road area before speaking with officers. Police need to establish if any other people were hurt during the disturbance. It is possible others were injured."
