Murder detectives have been given more time to question two people about the death of a woman in Southampton.

Four people were held on suspicion of murder following the discovery of the woman's body in a house in Broadlands Road, Portswood, on Friday.

Two have been released and police were given until midnight to question a 30-year-old man and woman, aged 35.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Friday concluded the woman died of multiple blows to the head.

The woman is yet to be formally identified and police are conducting inquiries in India in an effort to trace her next of kin.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have seen or heard anything, to contact them.
