Women have been warned not to walk home alone after nights out in Southampton, after a woman was sexually assaulted.
Hampshire police said the 20-year-old was attacked in the subway in Brintons Road at about 0420 GMT on Sunday.
The victim had earlier left The Edge nightclub. She was followed by a man who tried to engage her in conversation.
The man pushed the her to the floor and sexually assaulted her. The woman managed to push him off and escape.
Hampshire police said the woman was shaken but unharmed.
The attacker is described as aged about 25 to 30 years old, of Asian appearance, chubby with fat cheeks, with very closely-cropped hair.
He was also wearing a dark long-sleeved jacket.
Det Sgt Stuart Barton who is leading the investigation said: "This is a sexually motivated attack committed against a vulnerable woman who was making her way home after a night out.
"We would advise women to be aware of their alcohol consumption, particularly if they intend to walk home alone, but it would be preferable that they take a taxi or walk in well-lit busier areas with a group."
