New Forest pony put down after hit and run

A New Forest pony has been put down after a hit and run incident in Hampshire.

The pony was hit by a vehicle in the New Forest, near a cattle grid between Applemore and Ipley crossroads.

Police believe the accident occurred between 2100 on Sunday and 0900 BST on Monday. They are seeking information about the driver.

The pony was left with a broken hind leg and had to be humanely destroyed by one of the New Forest Agisters.
