Gosport hit-and-run crash: Plea over anonymous caller

Police have appealed for an anonymous caller who contacted them with vital information about a hit-and-run crash to get back in touch.

Two women were seriously injured when they were hit by a small, dark-coloured car on Stoke Road, Gosport, Hampshire, on 2 July.

A woman called the force's non emergency number on Thursday and provided information before hanging up.

Two men and a woman have been arrested and bailed over the incident.

Sgt Andy Lynch said: "I'd appeal for this woman to get back in touch as soon as possible as I believe she can help us further our lines of enquiry.

"All our calls are dealt with in the strictest confidence and she can expect the same should she choose to call again."

One of the women is still in intensive care in hospital following the incident.
