Cathedral service to honour seafarers

Senior officers from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines have gathered in Portsmouth Cathedral for a service of remembrance for lost seafarers.

The service was attended by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Cheryl Buggy and the mayors of Havant, Fareham and Gosport.

The life of Admiral Lord Nelson was also commemorated at the service.

Wreaths were laid at the statue of the British naval commander in Grand Parade.

Another wreath was cast into the sea in tribute to the sailors who have lost their lives at sea.
