Southampton General Hospital patient has purse stolen
An 83-year woman had her purse stolen as she lay in a bed in Southampton General Hospital.
Police said a youth had entered ward G5 and took her purse, containing about £15, from her bedside drawer.
The thief, described as white and about 16 years old, searched through it before stealing it, along with a brooch.
PC Alex Boucouvalas said: "This is a cruel incident where the elderly victim lay helpless in her bed."
Police also advised all staff and patients at the hospital to be vigilant following the theft on Thursday.
The hospital said the matter was being dealt with by the police and declined to comment further.
