Body found in woods believed to be that of missing man

The body of a man found in Hampshire woods is believed to be that of missing man Jason Goddard, police have said.

A gamekeeper alerted police after finding the body at Harewood forest, near Andover on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr Goddard, 40, was last seen at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, early on Monday.

It is understood Mr Goddard planned to walk home to Andover from Winchester and it is believed he had no money or mobile phone with him, police said.

He had been taken to hospital on Sunday night after being found drunk in the Andover area and was later discharged.

Police have contacted Mr Goddard's family.

Formal identification of the body has not yet taken place.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious and are now preparing for a file for the coroner.
