Hayling Island beach death man's identity solved

The mystery surrounding the identity of a man whose body was washed up on a Hampshire beach has been solved.

The body of Eric Williams, 60, of Sketty, Swansea, was discovered on Hayling Island on New Year's Day.

Hampshire police launched an appeal for help identifying the tattooed body which was believed to have been in the water for up to a week.

Officers said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Williams's death. The coroner has been informed.
