A man detained in connection with the death of a man found dead in a burning car has appeared in court charged with perverting the course of justice.

Afrin Lleshi, 36, of Shirley Road, Southampton, is accused of assisting in the disposal of Agim Hoxha's body.

Mr Hoxha, 29, was found dead on the back seat of the car by emergency services in Chilworth Drove, Chilworth, near Southampton last week.

Mr Lleshi appeared before Southampton magistrates and remanded in custody.

He is due before Southampton Crown Court on June 19.

Police believe Mr Hoxha was dead before the fire in his silver Mercedes began.

On Thursday, police located Mr Hoxha's second car, a Ford Mondeo.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said a member of the public spotted the Ford car parked in Milton Road in the city and contacted police.

Mr Hoxha, who lived in Cranbury Place, Southampton, was originally from Albania.

He had lived in the UK for 12 years, working on building sites around Southampton and London.

His family described him as "a good and hard worker" who also enjoyed going to the gym and playing Sunday league football.
