Portsmouth and Isle of Wight awarded green transport grants
Greener forms of transport in Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight are being given almost £9m in grants.
Portsmouth City Council plans to use its £5m to improve links between Gunwharf Quays and the Historic Dockyard, the city centre and Southsea.
Isle of Wight Council will use part of its £4m fund to join up the current cycle network on the island.
They form part of 30 local transport schemes worth £113m which have been given the go-ahead by the government.
Both schemes will include transport hubs which could offer bike hire, parking, maintenance, lockers and live travel information to help visitors and local people plan their journeys.
