Cyclist dies in New Forest crash

A cyclist has died following a crash with a car in Hampshire's New Forest.

Mark Brummell, from Southampton, died from his injuries after the incident at Ipley at about 18:15 BST on Monday.

A 59-year-old man from Christchurch, who was driving a silver Renault Megane, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident near the junction of Beaulieu Road and Beaulieu Way.

Sgt Andy Lynch, from the Road Death Investigation team at Eastleigh, said: "Mr Brummell was treated at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to Southampton General Hospital where sadly he later passed away.

"I'm appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with information who can help. I'd like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or saw either the Megane or the cyclist prior to it."
