Pedestrian, 82, dies in Portsmouth car crash

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in Portsmouth.

James Robert Diaper, 82, was knocked down by a Vauxhall Vectra at the junction of Copnor Road and Laburnum Grove on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr Draper, from Wallington Road in the city, was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital where he later died.

The driver and passenger in the car, both 41-year old men from Portsmouth, were uninjured. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
