Curry throw could have caused crash, say police

A bus driver could have crashed after being covered in curry which was thrown from a moving car, police said.

Hampshire police are searching for whoever threw the food over the Isle of Wight bus driver.

A spokesman said the 50-year-old woman driver was "covered" in sauce and so were the vehicle's controls.

Thirty passengers were on board the Southern Vectis bus which was travelling along Great Preston Road in Ryde at the time.

PC Al Spence said whoever threw the curry was in a red car.

He said: "The actions of someone in this vehicle were reckless and could have led to a road traffic collision because of the shock and distraction it caused to the bus driver."

PC Spence appealed for anyone who saw what happened on the bus shortly before 12:00 BST on 16 October to contact officers.
