Hastings man bailed over abduction attempts

A man arrested on suspicion of two attempted child abductions in Hampshire has been released on bail.

Hampshire officers arrested the 43-year-old from Hastings on Friday night.

A 12-year-old girl escaped when a man tried to grab her in Havant on Tuesday. An 11-year-old boy was grabbed by a man in Emsworth on Wednesday morning.

Police have appealed for drivers who sounded their horns when the boy ran into the road to escape to get in touch.

Both children described the man as having tanned skin, wearing jeans and boots and being in his 40s or 50s.

The man, who was arrested in Sussex, is on police bail until February pending further enquiries.
