Detectives have been given more time to question four suspects over a fatal "drug-related" shooting in Southampton.

Jahmel Jones, 23, was found at a property in St Mary Street at about 11:00 BST on Saturday. He later died at hospital.

Post-mortem tests showed he died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.

A 36-year-old woman and three men aged 41, 21 and 18, all from Southampton, remain in custody. A 21-year-old woman has been bailed.

Police believe the shooting was drug-related and that the victim, from Lyon Street, and the suspects were known to each other.

Mr Jones is thought to have been shot with a handgun, although no weapon has been recovered.

Hampshire Constabulary launched Operation Fortress in May last year to crack down on drug-related violence in Southampton.

It was set up in response to a number of violent crimes in the city, including a shooting and several stabbings.
