A 50-year-old man has been released without charge after being arrested on suspicion of murdering a man whose body was found in an Isle of Wight street.

Christopher Parsons, 44, of Arnolds Yard in Brading, was found lying on the pavement in North Street in Sandown on Friday night.

Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The arrested man has been released on bail on suspicion of possessing heroin with intent to supply.

A post-mortem examination failed to determine a cause of Mr Parsons' death and further toxicology tests will be carried out.

However, he did not appear to have suffered any visible injuries, a police spokeswoman said.
