Lorry driver charged after fatal A34 Tufton lorry collision

A lorry driver has appeared in court after a man died and three others were injured in a crash on the A34.

The collision, involving a Vauxhall Zafira, happened on the northbound carriageway, near Tufton, Hampshire, at about 17:45 GMT on Saturday.

The 53-year-old Zafira passenger, from Swindon, who died at the scene has been named as Simon Shore.

A lorry driver from Poland appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody.

He is to appear at Winchester Crown Court in February charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The driver of the Zafira, a 40-year-old man, and two rear seat passengers, a 13-year-old girl and 38-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
