Bitterne gold theft burglars 'forced woman to pass out'

A woman opened her door to "smartly dressed" burglars who put a cloth over her mouth, forcing her to pass out, before ransacking her home.

The burglars, who initially claimed to be Jehovah's Witnesses, stole high-value gold jewellery from the house in Caerleon Drive, Bitterne, Southampton on Sunday lunchtime.

When the woman, aged 19, regained consciousness the men had gone.

She was not injured and did not have ongoing symptoms.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which they say happened between 12:30 and 13:05 BST.
