Alex Woods murder: Andi Edwards given life sentence

A man has been jailed for life for the murder of a 22-year-old who was stabbed to death.

Alex Woods was found seriously wounded after the attack in Scott Road, Eastleigh, on 6 July, police said. He died on his way to hospital.

Andi Edwards, 37, was found guilty of murder after a trial at Winchester Crown Court.

Edwards, of Scott Road, was sentenced to a minimum term of 18 years.

Det Supt Justin Norris, of Hampshire police, said: "This violent assault led to the death of a young man and left his family devastated.

"I would like to recognise the efforts of everyone who responded to this incident, as well as those involved in the murder inquiry that followed."

A 51-year-old woman, originally arrested on suspicion of murder, was released without charge.
