A fire involving a "large quantity of waste" broke out at a rubbish processing plant in Southampton.

About 30 firefighters were called to Veolia's Marchwood Waste Transfer Station, off Bury Road, just after 08:45 BST.

The blaze was contained to a concrete bay containing bulky domestic waste and brought under control by 11:00. Crews remained at the site, damping down.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service urged residents to shut doors and windows.
