Jobs threatened as Redditch retraining centre faces axe

A centre that helps re-educate the unemployed in a Worcestershire town is facing closure due to funding cuts, putting 22 jobs at risk.

Councillors will meet next week to decide if the REDI centre in Redditch should close, be restructured, relocated or can continue to run.

People using the centre have started an online campaign as part of their fight to keep it open.

The centre is owned and managed by Redditch Borough Council.

The option will be discussed by the council's executive committee on 28 July and a final decision will be made on 9 August.

"It must be stressed that no decision has been made as yet," the council said.
