Mountain biker rescued from Wyre Forest river

A mountain biker has been rescued from a river at the bottom of a valley in the Wyre Forest after he fell 20ft (6m) from a pathway.

Emergency services said the situation was made worse as there was no mobile signal and his friends had to cycle away from him to ring for help.

The 55-year-old was eventually lifted onto a stretcher and then raised out of the valley by rope.

He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with a back injury.

West Midlands Ambulance service said emergency crews were called to the scene on Wednesday evening.
