Memorial service for lost babies in Worcester

People who have experienced the loss of a baby have been invited to a memorial service in Worcester.

The special remembrance service will take place at St Peter's Baptist Church on Saturday 16 October.

Worcester Royal Hospital chaplain, the Reverend David Southall, said it would include poems, music and an opportunity to light candles in remembrance.

"People are very welcome to come whether their loss was very recent or many years ago," he said.

He said after the informal service at 1400 BST, there will be time for people to talk and have refreshments at the church on St Peter's Drive.

Mr Southall said "We meet many parents who have lost babies through early or late miscarriage, still birth or neonatal death and we felt it was important to give them an opportunity to pray for each other and their babies."

He added it was an experience that people coped with in their own way.

The city has hosted services to remember lost babies previously and similar events also take place in other parts of the country.
