Hereford arts centre optimistic over jobs

A Hereford arts centre is optimistic jobs are safe despite a grant being cut by £15,000.

The Courtyard will now receive £212,319 from Arts Council England after the funding body cut its grants nationwide by 7%.

Operations manager Alex Green said he was optimistic the theatre, cinema and art gallery facility would be able to make up the shortfall.

"We can still deliver everything we wanted to be able to deliver," he said.

"Based on our assumptions at the moment, we're optimistic that with the things we have in place and our growth in ticket sales, which we've seen over the last year particularly, that we will be able to make up the shortfall.

"So we won't affect the front line. Staff numbers won't be affected either.

"We'll look at other ways of earning the money instead."
