Herefordshire road salt figures revealed

  • Published

More than 200 tonnes of salt were used overnight on roads in Herefordshire as temperatures dipped to -14.2C (6.4F) in places.

Motorists were advised that untreated roads remained hazardous but salt and grit had been used in High Town in Hereford, the council said.

The conditions have cost Herefordshire and Worcestershire about £20m in lost business, figures show.

Their chamber of commerce said some retailers had suffered.
